Light Blue

Often after the sun goes down there will be what I called a “second sunset”. Sometimes you will think that the sky is not going to be dramatic but then a few minutes later the colours are like this, soft and muted. In a more traditional landscape one might hope for a pure reflection but in this case the soft ripple on the farm dam leads the viewer to look at the skyline to the light and opening in the clouds.

Because this image is so late in the evening and thus quite dark, a solid reflection would have been confusing by providing to much information to allow us to make sense of the image. This image isn’t about capturing the mountain its about capturing the mood.

Dry’s Bluff forms the eastern end of the Western Tiers escarpment. This image was taken looking over a fairly large farm water storage near Bracknell.
