Along the Overland Track in the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Claire National Park. From New Pelion hut in the centre of the park the track rises towards Pelion Gap where this grove of Pandani can be found.

Pandani is found only in Tasmania and is the largest heath plant in the world. Although it resembles its namesake, the pandanus palm of tropical and South-East Asia, the pandani is in no way related to it. In Tasmania pandanis are found in subalpine plant communities. The long, sharp-edged leaves on their trunk provide insulation.
